Video Conferencing
Utilize the video conferencing abilities of the Washington State K20 Network to
provide enhanced learning for our students. Point-to-point video conference
sessions from our buildings to other sites outside the district as well as to
other buildings within the district. Multi-point video conferences state-wide
and world- wide.
Pursue new technologies in video conferencing including the recently introduced video over IP solutions. Laptop based video conferencing systems. These will not be to replace existing K20 video conferencing but to enhance our capabilities and increase student and faculty exposure to such technologies and opportunities.
Data Networks
Upgrade 56k DDS links to Weyerhaeuser Elementary and Columbia Crest Elementary. T1 or Ethernet over fiber using newly introduced equipment such as those from Extreme Networks. Continued installation of network switching and 100mb + network speeds. Increased investment in wireless networking technologies.
Wide Area Network
Increase bandwidth out to K20 and the Internet. Upgrade equipment and circuits out to remote school sites to achieve T1 capacity or greater.
Internet technologies
Enhance our web servers and publishing capabilities through upgrades of Network operating systems and equipment. Purchase and or upgrade web publishing software. Purchase and install web ready database systems for access to school information.
Purchase and install web filtering and caching systems. Protect our systems with network firewalls.
Computer Systems
Continued acquisitions of new standards based personal computers, both Macintosh and "WinTel" platforms.
Storage systems including RAID systems, CD-R recordable compact disc systems,
ZIP and JAZZ drives.
Input devices such as optical scanners, graphics tablets and video input devices
and cameras. Sound input/output capability. Digital video cameras for video production.
Output devices such as LCD panels, large screen projection monitors, and
printing devices for high quality color output.
